Music is your only friend
-The Doors
What would I do without my music? I wonder!
I started off with a Sanyo cassette player. Big, bulky, heavy thing...I still have it though I haven't used it in ages. My mom had a very large collection of music- cassettes in those times. I remember recording many of them and listening to the recorded ones over and over again so that the originals wouldn't get ruined. I remember making about three copies of the Beatles Greatest Hits- the last copy is now with my best friend. I finally managed to get those songs transferred out to a CD- the quality isn't that great because the cassette itself was so worn. But there are songs there that I haven't managed to find anywhere- Bells on the Hill, I'll follow the sun, Misery, Mr. Moonlight...
From the cassette player, I graduated to a Sony DiscMan. A hand-me-down from my brother. Used it for years- couldn't play it in the bus or train because it wasn't one of those nifty anti-shock models. Have now handed it down to my sister and I hear it's almost junk now.
I now have a Rio MP3 player- a very nice sports model, with a built in FM tuner.
256 MB expandable to 1 GB, and a battery life of 18 hours. Very neat. I carry it all over the place and it rescues me from many hours of boredom.
Of late I've been receiving many of those Free iPod e-mails...and I am ashamed to admit that I actually tried a couple of them...but you never really reach the point where you win the 'free' iPod :)
But for now, my mp3 player works just fine... wonder what'll come up next?
